I currently have a love / hate relationship with my iPhone.  There have been many times recently where I am frustrated beyond belief and I just want to throw it at something!  Maybe then things will function correctly?

Here are my issues:

– Keypad gets “stuck” or really super slow so it takes FOREVER to type anything!  I usually end up closing down the note or email and rolling my eyes.

– Camera, still.  Click here to see my post on this issue.

– Mail. I cannot tell you how long I see the words “connecting…” at the bottom of my screen.  Hello!  It has many problems connecting with gmail and is always telling me it can’t connect.  If I always have to resort to my computer to check my email, what is the point of the iPhone?!

– 3G not much faster than Edge.  In my opinion, there isn’t much difference.  I even had to turn off my 3G and resort to Edge to pull up a webpage.  LAME.

I know there are more but I’m too frustrated to think of them.

I must say it is still a pretty cool phone but I’ve never swore at piece of technology as much as I have with the iPhone.

I had the first generation iPhone and pretty much loved everything about it minus the slow internet connection when not on wifi. Well, my phone loving days came to an end when my phone slipped out of my pocket and in to a glass of water. Ruined. Dead. Unhappy apple face. So, I had to get the new iPhone. Luckily, this happened only a week before the 2nd generation phone was coming out.

After waiting in line for eternity and getting everything set up, I didn’t think there were any negatives until I used the camera phone. WTF?! This is a high end phone/mobile computer and it takes crappy pictures, at best. And now, I have to wait about 6 seconds for my camera to be ready to take a picture. WTF?! I have a 1 year old that I take quick pictures on the go of an let me tell you, he is not waiting 6 seconds for me to take a pic. How did this happen? This was one of my favorite features and it is crap.

Does anyone know of any plans to fix this major issue?

Sigh. I guess you can’t get everything you want.

So, during day 2 of my wisdom teeth saga, I was feeling pretty good so I called up one of the University Village Apple store in Seattle and they said they had plenty of 8GB phones left.  What they forgot to mention was that the line was clear down the street!  I wasn’t aware that all new iPhones are being activated in the store instead of at home which is why all these lines are so darn long!  Why?!  I think it has something to do with hacking in to the phone which most ordinary people don’t bother with and so we are stuck with the repercussions.

Anyway, they said they line might take 3 hours!  I decided to wait because what else do I have to do on a beautifully sunny Saturday in Seattle?  (a lot!)  I made friends with the people around me and was having an OK time.  Once I finally made it inside the store, I went to get out my ID and NO WALLET was to be found!  Oh no!  How was I going to get my phone?  My huband was strolling around the mall with the baby and I tried calling  him a million times so he could come back and show his ID (he’s the main person on our account) and get my phone.  He wouldn’t answer his phone.  This has got to be one of the most frustrating things!!!  I get up to the front of the line and still,  no ID, no money.  I ask if they will let me wait at the front until my husband arrives and they asked me how long?  and i said, “until he looks at his phone!”.  They didn’t seem to mind too much.  I kept peeking down the line at the door and finally I saw him.  He just happened to come back and still hadn’t looked at his phone so he wasn’t sure why I was frantically waving my hands in the air for him to come in to the store.  Phew.  Crisis averted.

Personally, I don’t think the new phone is that much better than the old.  I actually liked the silver on the back (versus the black or white) and don’t know when I’ll use GPS.  i guess the biggest difference I will see once I finally leave my house is the 3G connection.  But, who knows when that will be since my mouth is still hurting from removing my wisdom teeth.  I think the Apps are cool but you now get that on the old phones.  So, I’m glad the only reason i got the phone was since I dropped my old one in a glass of water, not because I wanted new and improved because, to me, it appears as all you get is new and more fingerprints on the back.

I’m not a technology geek, I can’t begin to comprehend how it works but I LOVE using it.  The technology we have out today is amazing.  One of the things my friends and I have talked about is how to rip all those CDs we own in to MP3s.  To sit around to do one by one is a ridiculous amount of time and I can think of better ways to spend my days.  Currently, there is a service available where you can send your CDs to them and they will rip each CD for $1.  We were considering doing this but when we realized how many CDs we have, that price is just too high.  We could go on a vacation to Hawaii for that price!

So, today while surfing the net, I came across this great new service from Primera Technology called the Bravo Rental Program for personal CD ripping.  They have a machine that can hold 20 CDs at a time and rip them all for you. Then put in another 20 and keep moving about your day.  Previously these units were only available for sale but now they are offering rentals for $299/week.  Shipping is paid for both ways.  They also mention you must return the unit 20 days after receipt and to allow 10 days for shipping back so you really get a week and a half.  I am still trying to figure out how long it takes to rip each CD to figure if I would be able to get all my CDs ripped in that amount of time.

I’m seriously considering this and might see if another couple wants to go in on it for half time to split the cost.  We could then sell our CDs to a used music store and recoup some of the costs!  Sounds like a plan to me.  Then, maybe I can take that vacation to Hawaii!  🙂

Has anyone used this service before?  Would love to hear feedback!  If I do end up doing this, I will provide a review and let you know how it went.
